Janet E. Patterson, M.S.W., R.S.W.

Janet Patterson is originally from Ottawa, Ontario. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work degree at the University of Western Ontario, and then went on to graduate from McGill University with her Master of Social Work degree.

Janet’s broad base of social work experience includes working at a children’s residential treatment centre, working in various areas of medical social work, working as a marriage and family counsellor, and working in the field of open adoption.

Janet has been a social worker with Adoption By Choice since the agency opened its' doors in 1989. She is involved in all aspects of the adoption process, from facilitating pre-adoption workshops to completing home assessment reports to providing both pre- and post-adoption counselling to birth parents and adoptive parents.

Janet and her husband, Doug, have two daughters who have come to them through open adoption.
