My work with families and individuals dates back to 1976. Previous to getting my Social work degree I worked in the Social work field before degrees were absolutely necessary at the Centre for Personal and Community Development in Lethbridge (now Lethbridge Family Services). During that time I was fortunate to be able to take courses in Family Therapy from Virginia Satir and Joyce Irvine, as well as many other courses which have given me a great clinical base.  After getting my degree, I worked as a counselor and organizational consultant at Sonshine Counselling Centre and then as Program Director of Sheriff King Home Women’s Shelter before going to Child and Family Services in various roles (foster care support worker, Investigator, caseworker, adult educator doing the training for foster and adoptive parents, and adoption worker) for fifteen years.  In 2002, I also achieved a certificate as a Life Coach and have supplemented my work at times with individual life coaching to help people achieve the goals they haven’t been able to previously.

Shortly after Adoption By Choice was awarded the contract for the training for adoptive and kinship families in 2004, I began as a training facilitator with ABC for the Adoption Parent Preparation Program for adoptive parents and Preparation for Adoption for kinship and foster parents and have enjoyed helping to develop the training in these programs.

What attracted you to ABC?
After working for Child and Family Services for fifteen years it was time for a change.  I had previously worked with our Director, Ramone, and approached her about a possible position. I currently work as the supervisor for the home study program.  It was a good fit for me after having worked in Child and Family Services and having completed Home Studies throughout my employment with them.  I am proud to be part of an energetic, enthusiastic, and committed team.
